Police appeal - Picture of another man released after last week's disorder in Coventry

Coventry Editorial 29th Aug, 2022   0

THIS is the latest picture to have been released by police investigating disorder in Coventry last Sunday when officers were injured after fireworks were thrown at them.

The force says it has had a great response from the footage it released at the end of last week and a man has been identified but officers are still appealing to find the two other men in the clip and this one pictured.

As the bank holiday weekend continues, there will still be a big uniformed presence, particularly in the areas of Henley and Longford, with police officers engaging with the community.

The probe into the disorder continues and the police want to thank everyone who has got in touch with information.

A review of CCTV, body cam and mobile phone footage continues.

Arrests have taken place across Coventry with eight people held in connection with the disorder so far.

Seven people have been released on police bail with strict bail conditions which are actively being monitored.

A 30-year-old man was charged with driving offences and was remanded to appear at court on Thursday.

Det Insp Stew Lewis from West Midlands Police CID, said: “If you recognise anyone from the video clip, we would urge you to get in touch. I would also appeal to those people in the clip, get in touch or expect a visit from us very soon.

“We have released footage of fireworks being hurled at police vans and into the air not only to identify those responsible, but also to show the real risk to members of the public. This could so easily have resulted in people being seriously injured.

“Although our investigation is moving at a fast pace, we still need the public to get in touch with any information they might have.”

Anyone with information should submit it through Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
