A POLICE officer has been badly injured after being run over in a hit-and-run in Coventry.
The neighbourhood officer was attempting to stop a car in Holbrooks Lane, Radford, just before 2.45pm yesterday (September 25).
West Midlands Police officer said: “He was run over, before the vehicle made off from the scene.
“It has since been recovered a short distance away and investigations continue to trace the driver.
“The officer was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries.”
Chief Supt Mike O’Hara, from Coventry Police, said: “It is completely unacceptable for a police officer to be injured in the line of duty.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment and we await further updates on his injuries. We will be offering the officer and his family our full support.
“Enquiries are well under way to trace the driver and I would urge them to do the right thing and come forward.”
