POLICE have released images of five men suspected of being involved in a disorder during the Coventry City and Sheffield United football match at the Ricoh Arena in December.

It is believed trouble broke out in the stands between fans between 8.15pm and 8.45pm on Thursday December 15.

A number of fans also invaded the pitch towards the end of the televised match in protest against the club’s owners Sisu.

PC Craig Harding, from the force’s football unit, said: “We are sure that someone knows who these men are and we are appealing to people to come forward with names.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to appeal to the men in the images to do the right thing and come forward as it is only a matter of time before we come knocking on your door.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Harding by emailing [email protected]

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The disruption from the pitch invasion on 87 minutes shortly before the end of the game was reported locally and nationally, including by Sky Sports.

Play was suspended for several minutes, after which Sheffield United scored an equalising goal.

The football club has said it will co-operated fully with the police and footballing authorities.

Any of those proven to have been involved in the disorder could face bans from matches, with the FA keen to ensure clubs clamp down in disruption of games.
