EMMAUS Coventry and Warwickshire is calling on local people to help out at their popular charity shop.
The charity supports people who have experienced homelessness by giving them a roof over their heads and meaningful work to help them improve their self-esteem and rebuild their lives.
Their charity shop on Red Lane sells second-hand furniture and household items, and volunteers regularly give up their time to help out.
Volunteers range from students and retirees to people who have time to spare.
National volunteers week began on June 1.
Natasha King, a Coventry University student who volunteers once a week at the shop, said: “Everyone’s been really friendly and welcoming. I love it and I’m so glad I decided to get in touch.”
Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire social enterprise manager, Craig Tonge added: “Homelessness is a problem that’s sadly not going away, especially in the current financial climate.
“Volunteers are a really valued part of the shop team and we hope that more local people will come forward.”
