Post Office to be revamped while another is set for relocation

A CITY post office is to close for two weeks while it is refurbished and another is being moved to a new location.

Opening hours will be extended by 18 hours at the new-look Whitmore Park Post Office on Holbrooks Lane when it reopens on June 17. Work will begin on Tuesday.

And the branch on Rugby Road in Binley Woods is moving a few hundred yards further into the village to the convenience store on Woodlands Road.

That will also see opening hours hugely increased by 91 hours.

A six-week public consultation has begun with final decision on the proposals set to be made on July 3.

Regional network manager Will Russell said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents and we are confident this new modern service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”

“These modernisations are part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
