THE PREMIER League has gifted brand-new football kits to Coventry schools supporting girls’ football.

Girls from Mount Nod Primary, Aldermans Green Primary, and Hollyfast Primary in Coventry are celebrating after receiving a brand-new Premier League football kit.

These schools were selected to receive the kit, which includes 13 outfield sets, one goalkeeper set, and optional Nike 2.0 hijabs, due to their active involvement in the Premier League Primary Stars programme with Sky Blues in the Community.

In partnership with Nike, the Premier League Kit Scheme aims to distribute free football kits to more than 58,000 girls in over 4,000 primary schools across England and Wales.

The kits feature the Premier League and No Room For Racism emblems, emphasising inclusivity and equality within the sport.

The girls’ teams from these schools were presented with their football kits during a special tour of the Coventry Building Society Arena.

They also received a surprise visit from Coventry City stars Liam Kelly, Ben Sheaf, Josh Eccles, and Jay Dasilva.

Gary Watson, head teacher at Hollyfast Primary, said: “What an amazing experience for our girls football team.

“We had a VIP tour of the CBS Arena and said ‘hi’ to some of the Coventry City players, it was a complete surprise they showed up.”

Marianne Botterill, Schools Sport Manager, added: “We are very pleased to give three of our Premier League Primary Stars partner schools football kits for their girls’ teams.

“We look forward to seeing them wear these kits with pride in our future tournaments.”

Richard Masters, Premier League chief executive, highlighted the importance of football in empowering and inspiring young people both on and off the pitch.

He said his hope that the girls enjoy their new Premier League kit and continue to benefit from the many opportunities football offers.

The Kit Scheme is part of the Premier League’s primary school education programme, Premier League Primary Stars, which aims to encourage children to be active and develop essential life skills.

Since its launch in 2017, the programme has engaged over 19,000 schools across England and Wales, providing teachers and parents with free downloadable resources and in-classroom sessions.

The Premier League’s investment into the programme, via the Premier League Charitable Fund, exceeds £60 million to date.
