A PROLIFIC shoplifter who repeatedly stole from stores in Coventry has been jailed after police connected him to a crime spree.
Matthew McCann, 45, of Dunhill Avenue, targeted the same store in Bannerbrook Park on four occasions on Tuesday (August 5).
He was arrested, and officers from the Woodlands, Westwood, Wainbody and Whoberley neighbourhood team linked him to other thefts.
He went on to admit a further five offences at Coventry Magistrates Court, and was jailed for 18 weeks.
A Coventry Police spokesperson said: “We know the impact of theft on our businesses and communities which is why we are committed to taking action across the city.
“We’re taking preventative and enforcement action as part of #SaferStreetsSummer. This is a national initiative with a particular focus on anti-social behaviour, retail and street crime.”
