A SWAN has been killed by a dog at Coombe Abbey Country Park.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the bird was attacked by a dog, which was not on a lead at about 11.45am on Saturday (January 20).

The dog was described as a black terrier-type with a white chest and its owner was a white man in his 30s wearing a red coat.

Swans are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and The Queen has a prerogative over all swans in England and Wales.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 152 of 20 January.
