A QUICK response from firefighters prevented any major damage after a fire broke out in a high-rise block on St Nicholas Street on Saturday.
At around 1.10pm, fire crews from Binley, Foleshill, Solihull and Billesley stations responded to the blaze, with the first arriving within two minutes of being mobilised.
After finding a small fire on a first-floor flat balcony, firefighters used a ladder to get to the blaze, which was extinguished with a hose reel and only caused minor damage.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, which is believed to have been started accidentally.
The person inside the flat had left before fire crews got to the scene.
Crews also checked for fire spread to three neighbouring flats as a precaution, but all were unaffected, and they left the scene around 90 minutes after being mobilised.
