STRIKES will be severely impacting rail services throughout the next week, with West Midlands Railway (WMR) urging people to only travel if ‘absolutely necessary.’
Industrial action by the RMT Union will see a reduced timetable on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with some routes having no trains at all.
In addition, strike action between Tuesday, January 3 and Saturday, January 7 will see a significantly reduced timetable, with no services running on Thursday, January 5.
WMR customer experience director Jonny Wiseman said it was ‘disappointing’ people’s journeys were being affected by industrial action as the New Year approaches.
He added: “Anyone travelling by train across the New Year period should check their journeys – both outbound and return – before setting out.
“Anyone whose train is cancelled as a result of industrial action can claim a full refund from their point of purchase or travel on an alternative date.”
