SIX men convicted of possessing offensive weapons and violent disorder which broke out in Coventry city centre in September 2018, leading to the death of Fidel Glasgow, have been sentenced to over 17 years in jail.

Fidel, who was 21 at the time, was fatally stabbed near to Club M on Croft Road in the early hours of September 1, 2018.

He died in hospital a few hours later, although no one has yet been charged with his murder.

Last year several men were charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against a 23-year-old man, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries from which he has since recovered.

The man has since left the country and cannot be traced, and therefore charges relating to him have been withdrawn.

Today the six men were jailed.

Among them were 24-year-old Pa Gaye of Harnalls Lane East, Stoke – also known as Pa Salieu – who, prior to being arrested, was an acclaimed rapper who won last year’s prestigious BBC Sounds Of award.

He was also nominated in the Rising Star section of the BRIT Awards and seemed to have a bright future ahead of him in the music industry.

He was jailed for two years and nine months for violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Michael Mistouflet, 25, of James Galloway Close was jailed for four years for violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Adil Naseer, aged 25 of Park Street in Foleshill was jailed for three years and two months for violent disorder while 23-year-old Jiguael Botamba, from Little Duke Street in Nuneaton, got a year and six months for violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

And 23-year-old Andrea Boadi of Lansdowne Street, Ball Hill and 29-year-old Harrison Asiedu of North Street, Stoke were jailed for violent disorder.

Boadi got three years and four months while Asiedu was sentenced to two years and four months.

Brian Kamau, 33, Brendon Gama, 24 and Mohammed Amadu, 22, will be sentenced in relation to violent disorder at a later date.

Det Insp Michelle Allen said: “This was extreme violence which involved the use of knives and other weapons.

“We won’t tolerate such unacceptable and dangerous behaviour on the streets of the West Midlands.

“This violent disorder led to the tragic death of a young man.

“We are still actively investigating Fidel’s murder and we remain in contact with his family to keep them fully updated with developments.

“Although these convictions are not in relation to the attack on Fidel, it is our dearest wish to hold someone to account for his death and we will follow any new leads.

“We continue to ask anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. ”
