Residents can get into the Christmas spirit at festive 'On Your Doorstep' event in Foleshill

Coventry Editorial 10th Dec, 2021

RESIDENTS of Foleshill can get into the Christmas spirit when the festive ‘On Your Doorstep’ community day event takes place tomorrow (Saturday), writes Shnae Harrison.

The event, at the Families for All Hub from 10am to 3pm, will feature fun and physical, mental health and wellbeing activities for families and people of all ages and abilities to enjoy. These will include games, arts, craft and physical activities.

Organisations represented on the day include the fire service, police and Sky Blues in the Community (SBITC).

People will be able to explore vehicles, including fire engines and police cars.

It is hoped the event will help build closer relationships between these services and the community and build on the ties created during the pandemic.

On Your Doorstep follows on from the success of the Community Street Closure event in Foleshill in July when residents’ feedback suggested more events in the community would be welcomed.

Visitors will have a chance of winning Coventry City Football Club tickets, can sign up to schemes such as the Holiday Activities and Food programme and can receive advice and support on any issues they may be experiencing.

Coun Patricia Seaman, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “I think it is so important for young people to be able to get together and take part in community activities and to meet other people especially as the ongoing pandemic has seen many of our younger population suffer from loneliness and social isolation.”

The event is in partnership with Go Foleshill programme for the purpose of encouraging young children and families to live a healthier lifestyle.
