Residents offered chance to make a will and help Zoe's Place at the same time

OVER 55s in Coventry and Warwickshire are being offered the chance to sort their wills and help Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice at the same time.

The hospice has joined forces with two legal firms to offer a free wills service throughout Make a Free Will Month in September.

Penmans Solicitors, which operates out of Queens Road in Coventry and Warwick Road in Kenilworth, are supporting the charity and are keen to meet with people who would like to write or update their wills.

For the £100 cost of a single will, Zoe’s Place can provide four hours of care to a child.

For the £170 fee of a joint will, the hospice can provide music therapy.

And the £75 cost of a single codicil would pay for a child to enjoy a day out under the care of Zoë’s Place.

Muna Chauhan, Corporate Manager at Zoë’s Place, said: “Our Make a Will Month is a great opportunity for anyone over 55 to take care of their affairs.

“There is no charge but of course we welcome any donations in lieu of solicitors fees.

“The support of the public in Coventry and Warwickshire has been fantastic.

“Whether it’s wills and legacies, businesses adopting us as their corporate charity, or groups of friends and family getting together to organise events on our behalf, every penny counts towards helping us to provide the necessary love and care for babies and infants.”

The hospice initially opened part time and cost just £700,000 a year to run.

But increasing demand in the past six years means the hospice is now open around the clock, meaning costs have risen to £1.3 million.

Muna added: “All services we provide at Zoë’s Place are free to all our families.

“That means every penny we receive in donations is crucial in helping us to make a real difference to the lives of our babies and children and their families.

“We are very grateful to both Alsters Kelly and Penmans for their ongoing support.”

Alsters Kelley solicitor Lisa Beale said: “Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice is such an important charity for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.

“They do such a wonderful job caring for babies and very young children and by participating in ‘Make a Free Will Month’ it provides a great way for us to be able to support them.

Alsters Kelley are taking part in the event throughout the month of September.

Penmans are taking part between September 11 and 15.

Over 55s who are interested in finding out more are advised to book early to avoid disappointment, quoting ‘Zoë’s Place Hospice Make a Will Month’.
