Rock Choir to raise the roof for Ukraine

Coventry Editorial 29th Jul, 2022   0

THE MIDLANDS Rock Choir, consisting of choirs from Coventry, Allesley, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Hinckley and Lutterworth, will be performing a series of spectacular fundraising concerts this summer to support those affected by the war in Ukraine.

The Rock Choir ‘Echoes Tour’ will take in ten different venues across the Midlands – all churches and other large resonant venues – and all profits will be donated to the charity partners Voices of Children and UNHCR who are working to support Ukrainians in their home country and those who have been displaced by the crisis.

Guaranteed to lift your spirits and get your toes tapping, the Echoes Tour will feature some of Rock Choir’s most popular songs and the nation’s most beloved hits.

The first concert of the tour will take place this Saturday, 30th July at St John the Baptist Church in Coventry.

The remaining concerts will be held in various venues in Leamington Spa, Stratford, Rugby, Kenilworth, Hinckley, Warwick and Lutterworth.

Rock choir leader, Kirk Hastings, said: “This tour means so much to us as we aim to help so many people that have been forced into a time of great need.

“We have partnered with two amazing charities who are making such a difference to the crisis in Ukraine and we hope our Echoes tour will not only echo around the walls and halls but to all those in need.”

Local Rockie, Lyn Fenner, who has been a member of the Coventry Rock Choir since 2015, said: “The Echoes tour has been planned to help the Ukrainian situation which we all think is horrific and people should come along to support it, as not only will they be supporting something but they’ll be having a really good night out and doing something really worthwhile.”

Jean Boston who joined the Coventry Rock Choir in 2017, said: “I’m looking forward to the Echoes tour because it means so much to a lot of people who have been through so much.”

Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £2 for under 14s and can be booked through the website.
