ROSES are the most beloved flower among home gardens in Coventry, new research shows.

Data conducted by UK plant nursery Ashridge Trees shows the nations floral preferences, revealing insights into Coventry’s green spaces and gardening habits.

The analysis, which focused on popular flower-related searches over the past year, found that Coventrians have a penchant for roses, with an average of 791 monthly searches dedicated to cultivating these timeless blooms.

Following closely behind is the poppy, capturing second place with 584 searches, while the sunflower basks in third place with 543 searches.

Julian de Bosdari, CEO of Ashridge Trees said: “The rose being crowned the nation’s number one flower for home gardening may come as no surprise to avid gardeners.

They’re adored for their beauty, fragrance and symbolism of love, which is why they are often considered the most romantic choice for Valentine’s Day.”

“Alongside personal preference, choosing the right plant for your garden and the time of year also matters.

“Flowers make a fresh addition to any green space and are the perfect option for brightening up a garden after the dull winter months.”

Other popular flowers making waves in Coventry and beyond include the hydrangea, renowned for its voluminous blooms, and the peony, celebrated for its opulent blossoms and romantic allure.

With the promise of warmer weather and longer days ahead, gardeners are poised to embark on new gardening adventures, embracing the beauty and tranquility that flowers bring to their homes and communities.
