SAVE OUR BEES: Stadium owners remain tight lipped over delicate Coventry Bees situation

Shaun Reynolds 8th Sep, 2017 Updated: 8th Sep, 2017

THE owners of Coventry Stadium have declined to comment when asked about security at the stadium amid the arrival of travellers at the site.

Brandon Estates Ltd, who are at the centre on the ongoing off-track dispute which has prevented the world-famous Coventry Bees from racing, declined to answer any questions The Observer asked following the release of its latest statement.

We asked if Brandon Estates had considered improving its security measures to prevent travellers from entering the stadium’s car park.

We also asked for an update about the proposal for a phased development of new homes.

In addition, we asked what the plan for Coventry Stadium is while planning permission for any housing estate is not confirmed.

Brandon Estates declined to respond to any of the above questions.

Though they did send the below statement after the travellers broke into the site for the second time in three months.

It read: “Brandon Estates Limited has been told this afternoon that gypsies have again illegally broken into the stadium car park at Brandon.

“As previously, it is anticipated that the gypsies will have no regard for the local tax paying community and when they leave the site, whether it be voluntarily or pursuant to a Court Order, they will leave it in an appalling state and expect the landowners to pay for clearing up the human waste and destruction.

“Brandon Estates question how these people are allowed by the police to drive in their untaxed and uninsured vehicles on the public highways. Why is no action taken to uphold the law?”
