A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested at his home in connection with a series of knife-point robberies – and parents are being asked to help police.
Police detained the boy from his family home in Walsgrave on suspicion of robbery.
Officers say he has been kept in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We suspect the teenager has played a role in at least four robberies on 11 and 12 January in which victims have been threatened with a knife before bags, clothes shopping, phones and headphones have been stolen.
“The victims are aged 14 to 17.
“It’s shocking that school children are involved in this type of crime. And it emphasises that everyone in the city has a role to play in making our communities safer and steering children away from trouble.
“We know that getting knives off the streets is important to you. We’re doing lots, but we need your help too. Stopping knife crime is everyone’s job.
“Talk to your children about the dangers of carrying a knife and what to do if they are threatened. You can find out lots of useful information by searching ‘WMP life or knife’ online.”
