A SEARCH has been launched by police to find a man who is unlawfully at large and in danger after absconding from a mental health unit in Coventry.

John Kiely, who also uses the surname Miles, was admitted to a secure unit in Coventry on May 9 after he sustained serious injuries.

The 43-year-old later left the unit and was last seen at around 11.30pm on May 28 on Broad Park Road, Coventry.

Officers are extremely concerned for his well-being and safety as he requires on-going treatment for his injuries and medication he does not have with him.

A police spokesperson said: “Keily is described as white, 5 foot 6 inches tall with a medium build.

“His hair is typically very short, or completely shaven and he was last seen wearing a light blue T-shirt with a post card type emblem on the front, blue jeans and dark blue Vans style shoes with white soles.

“He is likely carrying a white pillow case containing some belongings.

“It is imperative that he is found quickly, but members of the public are advised not to put themselves at risk by approaching him.”

Investigating officer Darren Lee said: “Given the situation, members of the public should not approach Kiely if they see him. Instead they should call 999 and we will send officers to the location.”

If you have any other information to assist the investigation then please call the non-emergency number 101.
