SEVEN Coventry community groups will be getting a cash boost to improve well-being in the city’s neighbourhoods.
The groups have received the cash through the Citizen local fund, which aims to support West Midlands communities by supporting projects that improve mental and physical well-being, reduce social isolation, and bring communities together.
Groups could apply for up to £5000.
The Hillfields People Project Watch Centre will use the cash to expand their work providing life-skills support, advice and guidance activities for young people and adults living in the area.
Cash given to St Peter’s Centre will help to buy a new cooker, fridge and freezer to help with the community lunch held there.
The lunch is facing increased demand due to the cost of living.
The Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre will use the money to create an animation to remove the stigma around talking about sexual violence, while the Coventry House Project, which helps young people aged 16 and 17 who are in care to move into their own flats, will also benefit.
Shine a Light will be able to fund counselling support and play therapy sessions for any child who is affected by any type of cancer.
And Cyclemoor in Stoke Aldermoor will use the money to help people in the area learn how to ride bikes, while Skipton Lodge Breakfast and Lunch Club will continue to provide cooking equipment needed to host the clubs in their kitchen.
