CHARITIES and non-profit organisations which have struggled for funding through the pandemic can now apply to Severn Trent’s new £500,000 Recovery Fund.
The money is part of the company’s £1million emergency fund, created back in March to help support communities and organisation around the Midlands through the pandemic.
Daisy Powell, community fund manager said: “With everything starting to move to the new normal, we know some charities and groups will be feeling the pinch and will need some help getting back into the swing of things.
“We know that, when we went into lockdown, our communities needed help, which is why we created our emergency funding and donated £500,000 within weeks to the incredible community groups on the frontline.
“But we were conscious not everyone needed help right away, which is why we kept £500,000 back to create the recovery fund.”
Severn Trent worked with local authorities back in March to prioritise the groups that needed support the most, with the donations going to foodbanks, to support for the elderly, for mental health support, and even to electric bikes for NHS workers.
Now, non-profit organisations and charity groups can apply to receive a set amount of up to £20,000 to help them as things start to get back to normal.
To be eligible for the Recovery Fund, organisations must be:
* A charity or not-for-profit organisation with appropriate governance;
* Located in the Severn Trent region; and
* Focused on improving community wellbeing, through one or more of these three key elements:
1. People: charities that help people lead a happy and healthy life and gain new skills;
2.Place: community groups that provides for space to communities to live in and use; or
3. Environment: organisations that help look after our natural environment or give people better access to the environment.
Daisy added: “We know there’s no time for a complicated application process, so it’ll be simply an expression of interest in our website to make it as easy as possible.
“It’s also important for us to give the help where it’s most needed, which will help us prioritise our funding.”
Applications for the Recovery Fund will be reviewed on an individual basis as and when they are received. Once all the money has been allocated, the fund will be closed.
