A SEX attacker who broke into a woman’s house in Coventry before threatening and raping her has been jailed for 15 years.
In April, Maxime Owona, who had smashed a window to gain access to the woman’s home in Tile Hill, forced himself onto her after she was awoken in bed.
Owona, who previously knew the woman, pinned her down, threatening to harm her unless she agreed to his demands.
The woman alerted a relative to what happened, who called the police and Owona was arrested at the property shortly afterwards.
Owona, 33, was convicted of rape and trespass following a trial at Warwick Crown Court and was sentenced on Monday, November 28.
He will also be on the sex offender’s register for life and given a restraining order not to contact the woman.
DC Evie Griffiths, from West Midlands Police public protection unit, said: “This was a traumatic ordeal for the woman who was left fearing for her safety in the place she should feel most safe – her home.
“She managed to contact a relative who alerted us to the attack and we were able to swiftly arrest Owona – who initially gave us a false name.
“This was a despicable crime and he’s now been put behind bars for a long time.”
