CREATIVE community organisation Sitting Rooms of Culture will soon move into a new home at Coventry Market.
The group formed last year in response to the impending lockdown and has quickly grown to more than 4,000 members on social media.
Zarah Sultana MP for Coventry South said “I’m so excited that Sitting Rooms of Culture has found a home in Coventry Market.
“This will be a fantastic, creative space for people to come together in the heart of the city, adding to our already fabulous market.”
The aim of Sitting Rooms of Culture is to connect the community, provide a creative hub whilst nurturing and showcasing the incredible grassroots talent within the city.
Coun Jim O’Boyle, cabinet member for jobs, regeneration and climate change said: “The market feels like home for lots of local people and as people begin to combine shopping with a social and cultural experience this will be a really good fit.”
Sitting Rooms of Culture CIC successfully applied to Persimmon Homes for Community Champions funding and was awarded £1,000.
Sarah Preston, sales director of Persimmon Homes Central, said: “We couldn’t be happier to contribute to what is such an amazing group who really represent what the city of Coventry is all about.
“It’s delightful to hear that our Community Champions’ donation will make a huge difference to both Sitting Rooms of Culture and the community as well.”
