Sixth arrest after man shot in face in Coventry

A sixth person has been arrested over the shooting of a man in Coventry that left him with serious gunshot injuries to his face. 

Officers were called to Gerard Avenue, Coventry at 8.45pm on Sunday (May 17) following reports of a shooting. 

A 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene and four people aged 15, 18 and two men aged 21, were arrested at a hospital on suspicion of firearms offences and assault. They have all been released on police bail with conditions as enquiries continue. 

A 20-year-old man remains in hospital after self-presenting with potentially life changing injuries to his face. 




Last night (18 May) officers arrested a 20-year-old man from a property in Canley on suspicion of firearms offences. He emains in police custody today.

Detective Chief Inspector David Sanders from force CID said: “This is a complex investigation and we are still trying to piece together exactly what happened. 


“We have made rapid progress on the investigation with six arrests and the seizure of a firearm which has been sent for forensic examination. 

“However, we are urgently appealing for information. If you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the offence on Sunday, please contact us.”
