AS THE COLDER months approach, homeless charities across Coventry will see an increase in the amount of vulnerable people seeking support and warmth during winter.

Sky Blues in the Community’s head of community surprised Clothing Coventry with a donation of Coventry City gilets, winter coats and scarves.

Clothing Coventry aims to help people and families experiencing clothing poverty.

There are two warehouses – one serves as a storage and sorting facility, while the other is open to the public, where people can personally choose from rails of donated goods.

Katie Wilson, CEO of Clothing Coventry, said: “Thank you again for the amazing donation, I can’t wait to give these coats and scarves out to some people who are cold.

“They are so warm, and the CCFC branding on them makes them even more welcome and exciting.

“The coats will be given away to those in need, such as the homeless, when they attend our warehouse in need of warm dry clothing.”

Clothing Coventry has been open since 2020 and supported 14,517 people with a clothes parcel of season appropriate clothing.

“This year, we have not only supported 5604 people with a visit to our warehouse to access clothes, we have also distributed 10,000 items of free clothing onto free community rails in locations like family hubs, homeless centres and emergency accommodation.”

Clothing Coventry runs a successful school uniform project, offering free uniforms year-round through giveaways in school halls and a pop-up shop in the city centre during the summer.

Sky Blues in the Community also visited the Henley Green Grub Hub, in Coventry, donating CCFC scarfs to give to those in need.

Diane Williams, MHCT-CEO and Manager of the Henley Grub Hub said: “The CCFC scarfs were welcomed by all the staff and volunteers at the Henley Green grub hub where we supply and deliver over 200 food parcels to the local community through the social supermarket on Wednesdays, we are currently pulling together a Christmas hamper and the inclusion of a CCFC scarf to go in will be much needed and appreciated to see the recipients through the winter.”
