SKY BLUES in the community have been visiting local schools across Coventry to discuss mental health as part of the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.
The team discuss how to look after wellbeing, what mental health means and the importance of looking out for each other.
As well as Sky Blue in the Community, officers from West Midlands Police attended the events – and Winnie the therapy dog.
John Szyndler, mental health and wellbeing manager and owner of Winnie, said: “I had the incredible opportunity to visit five primary schools across Coventry as we prepared for World Mental Health Day.
“Our mission was to raise awareness about mental health and promote wellbeing among young people, and we brought along our therapy dog, Winnie, to help us with this important effort.
“Winnie’s journey this year has been very inspiring. Over the months, she has visited numerous schools, care homes, and hospitals, providing emotional support to a wide range of individuals, particularly those who are vulnerable.
“During our visits, we engaged with the children and shared stories about Winnie’s experiences, emphasising the profound impact that therapy dogs can have on mental health.”
Natalie McDiarmid, Coventry Partnerships Team at West Midlands Police added: “It was great collaborating together with Sky Blues In The Community for Mental Health Week.
“It is imperative to educate and increase awareness with our youngest members of the community about the importance of mental health care. Everyone needs to feel like they matter.”
