Sky Blues to gift every Coventry school with £250 sports voucher

Coventry Editorial 13th May, 2023   0

EVERY school in Coventry will be getting a Sky Blue surprise as they will be handed a free voucher for £250 worth of sports equipment.

The gesture is a result of a collaboration between Coventry City football club’s official Charity, Sky Blues in the Community and Frasers Group, the firm which acquired the Coventry Building Society (CBS) arena last November.

Former Coventry City defender David Busst recently hosted an open day for over 50 primary schools and community groups at the arena, with each one given a goodie bag and a sports voucher

Young players from the school’s football teams were also able to showcase their skills on the arena pitch.

Sky Blues in the Community and Frasers Group will now be reaching out to around 70 other schools in Coventry.

The sports vouchers are redeemable at Sports Directory, a sister company of Sports Direct that is owned by Frasers Group.

Schools in Coventry or on the city’s immediate borders can register to receive their voucher by contacting Sky Blues In The Community.

David Busst, who is head of community at the charity, said: “The open day was a great way of celebrating our ties with the schools and community groups that we work with across the city.

“During the next few months, we’ll also be contacting all of the other schools in Coventry in order to engage with them.”
