THE SNOW has closed more than 100 schools today – while the council was advising gritting has cleared main routes.
Coventry City Council published the list of schools below which had confirmed they would not open today.
A statement last night read: “After the bad weather experienced across the city and wider region today, all council buildings should be open for business as usual tomorrow.
“Our Highways teams have worked hard to ensure that all main routes have been gritted throughout the day and will continue to work overnight.
“It is hoped therefore that all main roads and public transport will be operational as normal on Monday.”
The council tweeted: “Our gritters have been out all day to keep main roads moving. Teams are still out. In the last 24 hours we’ve spread 700 tonnes of salt.”
Of today’s weather, Steve Jackson of Bablake Weather Station tweeted: “Slowly brightening & mainly dry today with just an odd snow flurry; feeling cold in a brisk NNE breeze with temperatures around 1C, so any thaw will be slow outside of the built environment. #Coventry #Warwickshire”
