Stabbing in Coventry leads to police officers getting extra 'Section 60' stop and search powers

Coventry Editorial 2nd May, 2022   0

A NEW Section 60 order has been placed across an area of Coventry until 4am tomorrow (Tuesday, May 3), giving police officers powers to stop and search people.

In the area on the map above police will be able to stop and stop and search those officers believe could be involved in violence involving weapons, without the need to have reasonable grounds.

Coventry Police says the Section 60 is in place in the Binley and Willenhall area following an earlier stabbing, which thankfully is not believed to be life-threatening.

“Our priority is to protect you the public.”

The force urged anyone with any information on gun and knife crime to call officers on 101 to report it.
