COVENTRY City midfielder Tatsuhiro Sakamoto made the day of a very special superfan in the crowd who had flown all the way from Japan to watch him play.
Toshikazu Yoshizawa travelled from his home city of Osaka to the Coventry Building Society Arena to watch the Sky Blues draw with Stoke City to watch his favourite player in action for his new club.
Sakamoto, who moved to Coventry in the summer, played for Toshikazu’s hometown club Cerezo Osaka between 2020 and 2022.
City’s new number 7 made Toshikazu’s day when, before kick-off, he met his number one fan pitchside, where he gifted him a signed shirt.
Sakamoto started Saturday’s Championship clash on the bench but came on in the 70th minute.
Toshikazu said: “I’m so happy, I can only thank Tatsuhiro for making my trip so special.
“Every game he played for Cerezo Osaka he scored, dribbled a lot, and had a lot of confidence so I wanted to watch the same situation here again.”
