A SURVEY by an insurance broker has found drivers in the West Midlands are most anxious about other motorists on the road and insist motorway lessons are ‘essential’.
A total of 32 per cent of those quizzed in the region wish motorway lessons had been part of the course when they were learning to drive.
In 2018 the law was changed to allow learner drivers on the motorway, whilst being accompanied by an approved driving instructor – but this is not a mandatory part of driving lessons.
The research by insurance brokers Adrian Flux examined the attitudes of drivers across the country, and what they wish they had learnt.
Other issues highlighted include 42 per cent of drivers in Wales wishing they had learned how to change a tyre while 30 per cent of Yorkshire motorists thought a simulated breakdown situation would have been useful.
East Midlanders wanted to better understand symbols on the dashboard and more than a third of London motorists wanted lessons on driving in the dark.
