A TAXI driver was robbed of his takings in Nuneaton.

The thief struck around 8pm on Thursday while the cab was parked up at a taxi rank in Bridge Street.

The man asked the driver if he could take him somewhere before threatening him with what is believed to be a blade.

A money bag containing a quantity of cash and some electronic equipment was removed from the seat of the taxi then the man made off.

The taxi driver was uninjured but extremely shaken by the incident.

The attacker was white, around 18 years old, around 5ft 8ins tall, clean shaven and with short dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing.

Warwickshire Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has CCTV or doorbell footage of the incident.

Those with footage or information should call officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
