A TEENAGER who died after being stabbed in Coventry has been named as Michael Ababio, as the investigation into his murder continues.

The 18-year-old suffered a stab wound during disorder outside Foleshill Library in Broad Street at around 9.40pm on Sunday (February 22). He was pronounced dead early on Monday morning.

Michael’s twin brother paid tribute on behalf of his family.

He said: “Most people won’t know what it is like to have a twin, but I do. Michael was more than just a brother, he was my second half.

“He aligned with everything that I liked. Words cannot express the pain we are all feeling right now.

“You will be greatly missed. Our family will never be the same, but we hope you’re in a better place now.”

A 19-year-old man who was also found with stab wounds nearby was taken to hospital. He has also been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers are also investigating a disorder which happened nearby in Foleshill Road around 20 minutes after the fatal attack, which they do not believe to be directly related.

Four people have been arrested in connection with that disorder. One has since been charged with assault. The others have been bailed while the investigation continues.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We believe videos showing both incidents are being circulated on social media and through private messaging apps.

“We would urge people to think of Michael’s family and not to share any footage, out of respect for him and to ensure our investigation is not compromised.”

Det Supt Jim Munro, from West Midlands Police’s Homicide team, added: “Michael’s family have been left devastated by his death, and our focus is solely on getting answers for them and justice for Michael.

“We’ve made good progress already by speaking to witnesses, recovering CCTV, and other enquiries, but we still really need the public’s help.

“If you saw what happened, or you know why someone may wanted to have hurt Michael, please do the right thing for his family and let us know.”
