COVENTRY City has announced its support for the return of the ‘Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge.’

This year’s challenge brings a Paris 2024 Special theme, celebrating the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French capital.

Running from June 9 to July 7, the Challenge invites all Coventry schools and residents to partake in a month-long adventure of outdoor activities and fitness.

Participants can visit any of the 30 designated parks and green spaces throughout the city, each representing different Olympic and Paralympic sports.

By scanning QR codes at these parks, visitors can earn virtual medals and points for their chosen schools.

The interactive challenge promises fun and competition with its user-friendly point and scoring system, integrated through the Go CV platform.

The more QR codes scanned, the more points schools can accumulate, aiming to win the top spot in the Challenge.

The event will feature pop-up activities, exciting challenges, and opportunities to win spot prizes, ensuring a vibrant and engaging experience for everyone involved.

Danny Kingham and Stuart Davoile, Coventry School Games Organisers, said: “It’s been nearly 2 years since we held the last Active Schools Challenge and we can’t wait to support the Challenge’s return.

“We want more schools than ever to take part in this fantastic initiative that absolutely anyone can enjoy – any age, any fitness level, any ability.

“This time, with the Paris 2024 Special, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the Games in France – the virtual medals is such a fun way of staying active, and encouraging return visits to parks… and trips to new ones to collect them all.

“We’re encouraging schools, staff and parents to take part for their own school, but also Coventry residents who can still enjoy the Challenge and select a school to support”

The Challenge requires participants to be members of Go CV, Coventry’s local membership scheme, which allows them to track their progress, collect virtual medals, and compete in inter-family competitions – registration can be completed online through the Go CV website.

The ‘Go Parks: Active Schools Challenge’ has historically seen immense participation, with over 100 schools and more than 80,000 residents engaging in past events.
