A KIND-HEARTED Coventrian brightened the day of a woman who had her purse stolen – thanks to social media.
CCTV footage was posted on Spotted Coventry City yesterday about the theft at Emily Cafe in Earlsdon on Tuesday in a bid to warn others and see if anyone had any information.
The distraction thief was then reported to have made a £30 contactless payment immediately and again later on.
A day later, following the appeal, the victim was sent a card with £10 from an anonymous well-wisher.
In the card (pictured above) the donor said the cash was always kept in a drawer for ‘a rainy day’ and as the victim had been through her own ‘rainy day’ she wanted her to have it.
Almost 1,000 people have reacted positively to the post on the Spotted page and 35 people left comments about what a nice kind gesture it was, how it was ‘good to know there were some nice people out there’ and how it had ‘restored faith in human nature’.
A Spotted Coventry City spokesperson said: “She received this from a lovely lady this morning and it has really brightened up her day.
“It was such a kind gesture, we’d like to thank you so much.”
