POLICE seized three illegal e-scooters in Coventry yesterday.
They were confiscated on Far Gosford Street and among them was one which was ‘held together with sticky tape’.
The riders were stopped as they had no insurance – all vehicles being used on the roads must be road-worthy and have insurance policies in place.
In the areas which are trialling e-scooters, people are only permitted to use the official VOI e-scooters which are maintained to the required standard and have speed-limiting devices on them for when they are being ridden in busy and pedestrianised areas.
Yesterday afternoon’s stop by Coventry Police’s Team 1 happened during patrols on busy main roads, aimed at disrupting criminal activity and providing free transport to custody for those committing offences.
