Tollbar Island improvements taking shape

THE MAJOR scheme to improve journeys around the A45/A46 Tollbar End roundabout, A45 Stonebridge Highway and Stivichall Junction, is to take another leap forward this weekend.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (September 19, 20 and 21) there will be overnight closures to allow work to take place to change the road layout.

Traffic will be moved from the existing A46 Coventry eastern bypass, southbound carriageway, onto the new southbound slip road to Tollbar End roundabout. The slip road is part of the new interchange.

The work on the southbound carriageway will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

During the overnight closures, traffic will be diverted off the A46 at the ‘TGI’ roundabout onto the A428, then onto the A4082, Allard Way, to the ‘Asda’ roundabout, onto the B4110, London Road before arriving at the Tollbar End roundabout.

Paul Nagra, Highways Agency Project Manager said: “The traffic switch-over is a key milestone for the project.

“By Monday (September 22), drivers will see a significant change to their route through the improvement works. This will help to keep the project on schedule, bringing benefits to drivers and the economy.”
