A VIRTUAL celebration is set to be held tomorrow evening, April 14, in honour of Equality Day, featuring guest speakers and international entertainment.
Equality Day will be hosted by The Equality Group Coventry and supported by Ekta Unity.
The event is held on April 14 in honour of the birthday of Indian social reformer, Dr Bim Rao Ambedkar, who campaigned for social justice and reforms throughout his life and political career.
Lord Mayor, Councillor Ann Lucas, will be participating in the event and said: “In Coventry, we celebrate equality every day – you can see it in the life of our city.
“But we must never allow ourselves to forget that there is more work to be done, and we must continue to inspire others to follow our example.
“Equality Day reminds us all of the continuing need to strive for a just world for all.”
The evening will host guest speakers, including Professor Meena Dhanda, professor of Philosophy and Cultural Politics and the Consulate General of India, Dr Shashank Vikram.
It will also feature a headline performance from singer songwriter, Navin Kundra as well as other entertainment including international dances.
The event is via livestream from 6pm onwards on Kreesh Events Group (Facebook) or on Zoom via meeting ID: 890 9008 3996.
