YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire is calling on local people to take part in the first Tour De Y – a sponsored cycling event to help raise money for young, otherwise homeless people.
The family-friendly event – which will take place on Sunday (September 11) from 12-5pm at Draycote Water – invites people to sign up to cycle five or 25 miles while raising funds for the charity.
A 250 metre route which can be completed on bike, scooter or trike is also available to under 5s – meaning the entire family can get involved.
Participants are asked to pay a registration fee of between £5, for a child, and £25, for a family of up to five people.
Those who sign up are encouraged to raise funds through sponsorship, a minimum fundraising target of £3 applies and everyone that participates will receive a medal.

“Our Tour de Y event is a great way of getting members of our community to raise money for young homeless people, while challenging themselves to tackle our 25 mile route or taking part in the family five mile ride.
“We urge everyone to get involved in this event, to raise money to help support our work in future.”
Currently, YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire provides accommodation for 73 otherwise homeless young people and supports many more through a range of sports programmes, training and with opportunities to learn new skills at its social enterprises.
Through this fundraising event, the charity is looking to raise awareness of the importance of an active lifestyle for everyone’s health and wellbeing.
