A COVENTRY care home took residents on a trip down memory lane by organising a classic car show.
MHA Charnwood House contacted The Heart of England Classic Car Club about visiting the home, and they responded by bringing a Ford Cortina, Ford Counsel, a Humber Scepter and a Rover for residents to enjoy.
Residents were taken outside to see the classic motors, where they spent time talking with owners and taking in the craftsmanship.
The Cortina was made in Dagenham in a factory one of the care homes residents used to work at.
Activity coordinator Victoria Brown spotted the classic car club close to her home and spoke to them about the drive-in visit.
She said: “It was a lovely day.
“We have a lot of residents who were fascinated when they saw the cars, and it was a real trip down memory lane for them.
“The cars matched the era from when they would have seen or owned cars similar to what we had on the day and it was nice to see them take such interest.
“I have seen pictures of residents during their younger days with cars and some of the residents worked in the car manufacturing industry.
“The residents had a great time and we are hoping to do something like this again very soon.”
