POLICE in Coventry seized a number of machetes over the weekend and detained two 14-year-old boys on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

Officers were called out after reports of youths seen with knives in a car park off Maycock Road, Foleshill, at just before 7.30pm on Saturday (May 22).

On attending the scene police say they seized a machete and a Stanley knife.  Two boys, both aged 14, were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

The teenagers have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

On the same day officers, assisted by a police dog, discovered two machetes hidden in bushes off Olivier Way, Walsgrave, at around 6pm during a pre-planned operation to monitor anti-social behaviour.
