Two arrested as Coventry cannabis farm shut down

Coventry Editorial 15th Sep, 2023   0

A SUBSTANTIAL cannabis farm in Coventry has been closed down.

Stoke and Wyken neighbourhood team officers were called to Woodway Lane yesterday (September 14) after reports of a strong smell of cannabis from a property, found over 500 plants and arrested two men.

Two men, aged 24 and 19, were both arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity and remain in custody.

Upon further inspection, the officers also found the electricity supply had been bypassed.

They remained at the scene throughout yesterday and into this morning to help dispose of the plants and make the building safe.

Cannabis farms pose a significant risk through criminal behaviour and the potential for catastrophic house fires caused by rerouting the electricity.
