Det Insp Sherrie Kimberley from Coventry Police said: “We understand this has caused concern in the community, especially following the death of Michael Ababio on Broad Street on Sunday night.
“There is nothing to suggest these two incidents are linked. To offer reassurance to the community we are increasing patrols in the area.
“As part of our investigation we are appealing to the public for information about the incident.
“We know it would have been busy at the time, so anyone with mobile phone footage and any dash cam footage is urged to come forward.”
