Two-day Hip-Hop and street dance extravaganza to celebrate Coventry youth culture

A TWO-DAY extravaganza to celebrate youth culture in Coventry will take place in the city centre tomorrow and Sunday, August 14 and 15.

CVX – Coventry UK City of Culture 2021’s pioneering youth activism and art programme – is free and will take place under Coventry’s iconic ring road.

B-SIDE x CVX ft One Wave will bring together extraordinary artists and breath-taking acts from across all elements of Hip-Hop.

Birmingham Hippodrome’s annual B-SIDE Hip-Hop festival preliminaries, will be followed by One Wave, an evening of live music co-curated and presented by Coventry’s own Jay1.

The Sunday plays host to the highly-anticipated B-SIDE dance final. Across the weekend, visitors can also explore a graffiti writers and artists showcase featuring the hottest talents from Coventry and the UK.

OneWave features an outstanding line-up of emerging and highly-respected Hip-Hop and Grime artists both from the city and across the UK, including Reck Tally, Spender, Taifunds, Deniro5ive, Junior NRB, Dammz, Icey Stanley, DJ MJ, Ants XI, DeeLayDEE present Dream Team, Unique James and Whizzy.

CVX x B-SIDE feat. OneWave takes place in the Gosford Street Car Park in Coventry city centre and has been co-produced by Birmingham Hippodrome and Coventry City of Culture Trust, funded by Arts Council England and Spirit of 2012. Positive Youth Foundation is a partner on the event.

CVX x B-SIDE ft OneWave listings:

· Sat 14 Aug from 10am – CVX x B-SIDE x Break Mission pre-lims featuring breakin’ poppin’, waacking, and Hip-Hop dance battles backed by live MCs and DJs.

· Sat 14 Aug 6pm to 9pm – CVX x OneWave

· Sun 15 Aug from 11am – CVX x B-SIDE x Break Mission Finals

Under-16s should be accompanied by an adult throughout the festival. CVX x OneWave is recommended for ages 14+.
