TWO 29-year-old men have been remanded in custody as police investigate torched cars near to University Hospital in Walsgrave, Coventry.

Police officers say they charged James Connelly, from Pangbourne Road, and Sean Gillon, from Petitor Crescent, following a BMW being set on fire at around 6.30am on January 13, on Hall Lane.

They say two cars were set on fire, with the BMW ‘totally destroyed’.

The two men were charged with arson and attempted arson, and a trial date has been set for February 13 at Warwick Crown Court.

Detectives at West Midlands Police said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to get in touch.

“We believe there would have been lots of people in the area when the cars were set on fire because Hall Lane is close to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and many people use the road as a short cut.

“Anyone with information can get in touch via Live Chat between 8am and midnight, or call 101 anytime.
