TWO people have been charged with drink driving in Nuneaton.
Caroline Hutchinson, aged 39, from The Green in Hartshill, received a 16-month driving disqualification and a £200 fine.
Her arrest followed a collision on Castle Road, Nuneaton, on January 22 where officers found her car crashed into two parked cars, witnesses said Hutchinson and two passengers left by foot.
A police dog unit attended and the dog trailed the scent to an address, where officers arrested Hutchinson.
She was also ordered to pay £70 costs and £80 victim surcharge.
Santosh Rai, aged 30, from Fitton Street, Nuneaton, faced a 20-month driving ban and a £500 fine after admitting to consuming alcohol before a collision on the A444 on January 17.
He was also ordered to pay £135 costs and £200 victim surcharge.
Both pleaded guilty to their respective charges, a factor considered during sentencing.
Sergeant Simon Dalby, said: “The fact that all of these drink drivers were involved in collisions shows how dangerous drink driving is. “Even a small amount of alcohol can impair your judgement and slow your mental and physical reaction times.
“So please do not drink – or take drugs – and drive. It’s really not worth it.
“Take responsibility and plan ahead, book a taxi or go out within walking distance of home.”
They were charged at Leamington Magistrates Court on Friday March 8.
