Unique coronation ceremony to be featured at Coventry's witches and pagans festival

A UNIQUELY magical festival featuring a one-of-a-kind coronation celebration for King Charles will be returning to Coventry.

The festival of witches and pagans will be taking place at the Heart of England Conference Centre in Fillongley on Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7.

The event was launched in 2021 and is now held in the Midlands twice a year.

Although King Charles is head of the Church of England, festival organisers have dedicated a section of the programme to events celebrating the monarch, including a special ritual of Friendship and Family in the event’s Main Arena on the Sunday.

Visitors will be able to enjoy workshops and rituals, including incense-making, spellcraft and wand decorating, woodland walks, Viking re-enactments, yoga and feasts.

There will also be a Witches’ Ball, feast nights and a Viking battle, as well as family entertainment and workshops.

And those hoping to pick up anything from furniture to cloaks will be able to go hunting in the shopping village.

Organiser and festival founder Julie Aspinall said: “We may not have Christian beliefs, but we celebrate the head of state and want to send our well-wishes to King Charles III, hence joining in the nation marking this historic occasion.”

“The festival has become a firm fixture in people’s diaries – whether they want to come and gather with like-minded people, or families and friends who just want to enjoy a weekend at an alternative festival.”
