UNIVERSITY Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) will be getting their boots on to face the West Midlands Ambulance Service in a charity football match.

It kicks off at 3pm on July 2 at the Butts Park Arena and will raise money to help the UHCW Charity to support staff, patients and families in local hospitals.

UHCW funds world-leading equipment, trains NHS staff in new medical techniques and helps to create a comfortable environment for everyone.

Other fund-raising events this year included UHCW’s mascot Penguino teaming up with Coventry City Football Club’s mascot Sky Blue Sam to raise funds to support people in University Hospital Coventry and the Hospital of Rugby St Cross.

A spokesperson for the event said: “Our NHS staff do a fantastic job – the funds you raise help them to make things even better for our patients and their families.”

Tickets for the charity match cost £8 for adults and £4 for children.
