THE UNIVERSITY of Warwick’s Esports programme has been recognised with two nominations for prestigious international awards.
Warwick is up for the Esports Collegiate Programme of the Year and the Esports Collegiate Ambassador of the Year.
Warwick is the first UK university to get to this stage, with the rest of the shortlist comprised of all-American nominees.
The university boasts the most successful Esports club in the UK having won the British University Esports Championships for the last four years.
Esports has grown into a $1billion global industry in recent years.
Under the Creative Futures programme, the team uses the university’s Esports centre to develop student and community engagement.
The Esports centre is open to the public and has been taken around the West Midlands.
The student society has been a national leader since it was founded in 2017, and the club has also launched ‘The Pack’ – a group aimed at creating a welcoming environment for women and the non-binary community.
The nominations are open to the public vote, with the awards evening taking place in Las Vegas on December 13.

The Warwick Esports Student Leadership Team said it was proud of all its competitive successes, the award nomination and the legacy it was creating with young people across the UK now looking to Warwick Esports for inspiration.
