Three teenagers have been charged in connection with an attack on a 16 year old boy in Coventry on Monday.

The teenagers, all aged 16, have been charged with section 18 wounding with intent, with one also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

They will appear at Coventry Magistrates Court this morning (April 26) having been remanded in custody overnight.

The arrests were made after police were called to the junction of Rotherham Road and Holbrook Lane just before 4pm yesterday (Monday) after a boy was hit on the head with a hammer.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of an assault at the junction of Holbrook Lane and Rotherham Road in Coventry just before 3.50pm yesterday (Monday).

“An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found one male teenage patient.”

She added he received treatment for potentially serious injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

It is now thought the injuries he sustained are not currently considered life-threatening.

A Coventry Police spokesperson said: “We appreciate this incident will be concerning to the community and would like to reassure everyone that this was an isolated incident without cause for wider alarm.”
