Vandals disrupt cycle speedway club's season after trashing club's only toilet facility

MEMBERS of Coventry’s cycle speedway team have been left outraged after thoughtless vandals trashed the club’s only toilet facility.

The popular club, which hosts dozens of youngsters every Wednesday night for its weekly coaching sessions, is now without use of a suitable toilet facility – a crucial tick in a box for club’s to apply to host major national and international events.

Thugs used the club’s scaffolding stored on top of one of its two storage containers to rip open the roof of the toilet before leaving all scaffolding inside, creating a huge mess.

In recent years, the club has hosted several international events – including a Team GB vs Australia test match watched by more than 1,000 people and four British Finals.

First team manager Lee Marsh said: “As a grass roots club, any damage impacts on us financially.

“The facility is used by our 50 members on training nights and match days.

“Not having the use of a toilet facility could have an impact on us staging major events that help bring revenue to the city.

“In the past four years, we have hosted four british finals and a test match – without the use of simple facilities like toilets these events would not have gone ahead.”

The police have been informed about the incident.
